Pickleball in Santiago

Santiago is the capital of Chile and its political, economic, and cultural center, located in a valley at the foot of the Andes mountain range, whose snow-capped peaks are visible from much of the city. It is home to more than 6 million people, a figure that rises past 7 million when accounting for its full metropolitan area. It’s a sprawling city: two sports facilities within the same Metropolitan Region can be an hour apart from each other, so it’s worth paying attention to which comuna each venue is located in, even when both fall within Santiago.

Pickleball began being played in Chile in Santiago itself, around 2021, at the club founded by Patricio Cornejo, in the comuna of Lo Barnechea, and from there it spread to tennis and padel clubs across different parts of the city. Today there are more than half a dozen places to play in the Metropolitan Region, and Santiago is home to most of Chilean pickleball’s competitive and organizational activity.

The club offers lessons and maintains an active community, with frequent open plays and hundreds of players.

Bookings are available for both members and non-members, at different rates, through an online reservation platform.

It has its own parking, though since it's located at one end of the city within a large sports complex, getting there from other parts of Santiago can take considerable time.
